First City UC welcomes its new Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr Mak Chai today.
I am delighted and proud to be appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of this great university college. I can feel the sense of pride of the staff and students on the excellent achievements and the transformation of First City University College (FCUC) as a leading institution of higher education from KBU International College, a premier private college.
I am very pleased that First City University College is an innovative institution equipped with state-of-the art teaching and learning facilities to enhance the student learning experience. Its partnerships with international universities offering exchange opportunities and dual award options, industry linkages with established multi-national companies together with a wide range of disciplines at various levels of qualifications and a student population of local and foreign students from all over the world, is a hot pot for an enriching education experience for the students.
Another plus is the ideal location of the campus in a vibrant, integrated residential and commercial township of Bandar Utama in Petaling Jaya, an urban suburb of Kuala Lumpur, easily accessible by public transport.
A conducive campus and student accommodation are important aspects of a good university. These are well addressed by First City University College. The newly completed campus expansion comprising multi-story carpark, academic blocks, an on-campus hostel of 500 bed air-conditioned ensuite rooms as well as additional indoor sports facilities, are testaments of a progressive university.
Since its founding in 1990, the University College has grown to become an institution of choice, known for its track record in producing highly employable graduates and entrepreneurs. As Vice-Chancellor I will continue to build greater national and international image and branding of this institution and its academic excellence. I value staff and student diversity to develop a learning community that attracts talent people and learners to promote creativity and innovation towards achieving their highest potential.
I look forward to lead a team of enthusiastic staff with common goals of professionalism and achievements to deliver holistic quality education of international standards to our students, to transform their potentials to meet lifelong intellectual, ethical, social and career challenges in a global society.
